If you would have asked me my freshman year of college if I was going to go Greek I probably would have laughed and said absolutely not. I believed in all of the stereotypes and I didn’t think I was ‘that girl’. But part of me was always thinking “what if”. My junior year I decided to go through recruitment just to see what Greek life was really about. That was and still is the best decision I have ever made. The first night of recruitment I met my big in Alpha Sigma and she is truly the person that made me fall in love with this chapter and everything about it. Joining Alpha Sigma gave me the opportunity to be a leader, a volunteer and a sister. The women of Alpha Sigma have continued to push me to be the best version of myself and the have continually showered me with love and friendship that I never thought I would find. Joining Alpha Sigma was the best decision I could have made and the only regret I have is not doing it sooner.
Alpha Sigma has given me so many opportunities I could never have imagined having when entering college. I have found some of the best friends I could ask for, classmates and study buddies to help in classes, and a great support system with every decision I have made in college.
I went Greek because I knew it would be a good way to make friends especially since I didn't know anyone and I chose Alpha because it felt like family from the beginning. The girls were welcoming from the second I said hi at info night.
Alpha Sigma has not only given me a place to call home, but a place to grow as a leader. I never imagined I would be on PHC executive board, but with the help of my sisters they encouraged me to run and I got the position. The leadership skills I have gained from joining this chapter have not only helped me in my college career, but will help me in my future after college. Without Alpha Sigma I would have never become the leader and confident woman I am today.
